Standard Fixed Mirror.

When the vehicle is articulating the driver is only able to see the side of the trailer.

Usually in these situations the driver has to rely on the smaller "Wide Angle" mirror lens which provides a smaller view with greater distortion.

 
TurnSafe™ Equipped Mirror. 

The rear axle area and rear of the vehicle are clearly visible in the main mirror glass AT ALL TIMES!

This view is maintained by automatically and smoothly adjusting the main mirror glass during articulation of the trailer.

The benefit in this is the main mirror glass with a lower degree of distortion and larger viewing surface, is pointing directly at the rear axle area at all times, offering the view as shown during a turn. 

TurnSafe™ is an effective and highly innovative Self Adjusting Mirror Technology for Articulated HGVs and PSVs. It is fitted and fully contained inside the Main Mirror Housing on the passenger side of the vehicle. As you can clearly see from the two images above, the view shown by the TurnSafe™ equipped mirror is a lot more useful to the driver. By providing the driver with such a view, TurnSafe™ improves the safety in operation of the vehicle considerably.
 
There are no components fitted anywhere else on the vehicle. Neither is there any requirement to fit parts to trailers. With an installation time of around 1 hour per vehicle, TurnSafe™ is a serious option for any vehicle operator running any size of fleet. 
 
The TurnSafe™ Technology is supported inside a specially designed, robust actuator mechanism that provides smooth movement of the mirror glass. This actuator ensures the outer wall of the mirror housing does not obscure the view during tighter angles of articulation and allows the driver to see in the mirror up to almost 90 degrees of articulation. This capability is a unique (patent pending) feature of the TurnSafe™ system.
 
TurnSafe™ is a practical and effective solution to the blindzone found on the passenger side of Articulated Heavy Goods Vehicles. 
 
TurnSafe™ is lnked to a robust digital camera mounted onto the mirror housing that constantly monitors the trailer for articulation.
 
As articulation is detected by the advanced image processing software at the core of the product, the mirror glass is smoothly adjusted in real time through precise control of the actuation motors inside the TurnSafe™ Cartridge.
 
The result is that the driver is able to see the rear axle area and rear end of the vehicle in the main mirror at all times thus reducing by over 90% the chance of having a costly but unnecassary low speed near side accident. As our customers know all to well, the cost of these accidents usually impact bottom line operating profits significantly.
