Roundabouts

It is common to find that a loading, delivery or parking bay area or the access to it, is far from ideal for parking a large truck.

Often it is only possible to reverse into a loading bay "on the blind side" due to the vehicle access provided.

TurnSafe™ eliminates this blind side problem completely. No longer is the driver blind. The view of the "blind side" is kept in the main mirror at all times automatically whilst reversing.

Driving a large Articulated Heavy Goods Vehicle through towns and cities is not easy at the best of times.

Congestion, road layout and other road furniture present various hazards. On top of this the driver has to deal with the actions of other road users towards their vehicle.

This can result in people trying to undertake the vehicle, particulalry at junctions. Cyclists and Motorcyclists are most vulnerable in these situations.

TurnSafe™ allows the driver to see a view into the blind zone at all times. During the turn the driver will now be able to see if someone or something has travelled into the path of the vehicle before contact is made.

Roundabouts are another area where TurnSafe™ is particularly effective.

On the approach to a roundabout the driver often has to straddle two lanes or "steal" part of the lane next the vehicle to negotiate the roundabout

Other road users frequently mistake this behaviour and will try to undertake the vehicle leading to an accident

Again, TurnSafe™ is able to provide a constant and steady view alongside the vehicle to the driver no matter what angle of articulation is occuring. Thus the driver is always able see if something or someone has travelled into the blind zone before contact is made.

Driver Stress Levels
Not immediately obvious, but of significant benefit is the reduction in stress levels for the driver operating the vehicle.

A driver will commonly stretch or move whole body position in an attempt to see something in the main mirror, often without success.

With TurnSafe™, the driver will always see the ideal view in the main mirror thus reducing anxiety levels caused by blind zone difficulties when operating the vehicle..

Fleet Efficiency

TurnSafe™ can significantly improve the efficiency of a fleet operation through the reduction in accidents and other vehicle/third party contact incidents.

There will be fewer delays and missed time slots for delivery, together with a lower demand o the resources that are called into action when an accident occurs.

These savings will be made directly on the bottom line operating profits of the fleet operation.

Repair and Tyre Costs

By reducing the frequency of vehicle accidents and the number of repairs required, significant savings far beyond the initial investment into TurnSafe™ are achieved.

Now that the driver is able to see the rear axle at all times, they are better able to negotiate road furniture, kerbs and paving stones so as to reduce the incidence of Kerbing or tyre clipping. The cumulative effect of this can contribute to tyre delamination, or tyre sidewall failure particularly at higher speeds.

Usually a transport operation running vehicles in a mixed environment will find a reduction in repair costs and an increase in efficiency from vehicles equipped with TurnSafe within 12 months.
